Removing acid gases.
Removal of hydrogen sulphide (H2S) and carbon dioxide (CO2) from natural gas is necessary to remove toxic gases, and conform to pipeline entry requirements. The removal process consumes large amounts of energy. Amine contactors and similar systems burn large amounts of fuel gas in order to heat the rich amine stream and regenerate the amine ready for re-injection. Close control of this process can improve efficiency and, in many cases, the return on investment is just a few weeks of operation.
